Vancouver Canucks in Review
Playing for Vancouver, Canada in the game of ice hockey, the Vancouver Canucks became an official member of the National Hockey League for their Western Conference in the year 1079. The Canucks were able to play twice for the Stanley Cup Finals, unfortunately losing the title to the Islanders and Rangers in the year 1982 and 1994, respectively. As of year 1988 to 1997, the team was owned by Arthur Griffiths which was later sold to John McCaw. The year 2004, 50% share of the team was bought by Francesco Aquilini.
Where they play
An indoor arena in Vancouver, Canada, the General Motors Place is the home court of the Vancouver Canucks. This said arena was previously home to the Vancouver Ravens and Grizzlies. The GM Place was completed in the year 1995 amounting to C$160M. It can accommodate more than 18,000 audiences of ice hockey and more than 19,000 for a basketball game. It previously hosted several concert tours and World Cup Games. Big events to be expected on this arena would be the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
